| Does anyone have experience removing paint from figures? I've read various methods and tried a few things myself, but I haven't gotten good results. It would be great to remove Hasbro paint and just start customizing on bare plastic. I've painted sloppy just to hide their overspray on occasion.
Tried: *Goo-Gone -no effect *Testor's thinner -no effect *Acetone/Nailpolish remover -works but HARDCORE! Will dissolve plastic if you're not careful. *Denatured alcohol -works, but only on knock-offs & post-2000 era sometimes but takes a lot of rubbing. That seems to affect the plastic finish (streaked appearance); too mild?
Heard of: *Brake cleaner -yikes! really?

| Great question! I hope to find an answer to that, I want to remove the paint on that clear Mirage we got several years ago! | |

| I've done the acetone thing. It ate through a skystriker canopy. Ugh. | |

| The discoloration around the webgear is actually from my dremels buffing brush, it was a mistake made when trying to speed up cleaning, and is only noticeable in pics.
The disolver just needs a spray, 30 minutes or so to sit, then a really firm tooth brush and some elbow grease.

Can you tell what the white substance might have been? Obviously not factory paint (which is my targeted enemy), but it'd be interesting to know that this Dawn cleaner works on ____ paint.

| It seemed like acrylic, and its what one of my buddies over at Cobra Island uses to strip his customs if he needs to re-do them. So I know it works on acrylics. | |

| Good to know! I have no suggestion to make myself unfortunately. Acetone proved a bad experiment. | |

How do you mean? Are you asking what is the dissolving agent inside it? or What department to purchase it is, as in what type of item it is?
